Thomas Binder (producer)
Thomas Binder (born May 2, 1984 in Gmunden ) is an Austrian film and music producer and cameraman .
Life
After some “no budget music” productions and some failed film projects from 1998, his first film appearance was in Raoul Schaupp's “Last Memory” in 2005. In 2007 he made other short films. The second official publication “Suicide Desire” sold 333 copies in just 5 weeks. In the same year he shot the short film "Brain" with make- up artist Claudia Rindler , in which Mark Benecke, among others, had a guest role. "Hirn" was awarded the Silver Hand for the best amateur film of the year at the 2007 Fright Night's horror film festival.
A year later, a new, slightly tighter cut version of the Baby Butcher was submitted under the name “The Nice Man” to the Fright Nights Horror Film Festival in Vienna, whereupon a judge's decision was made shortly after the film was announced that it could not be shown .
In 2009 a new start was needed and so was from NACA7 film production , Black Lava Entertainment . Binder and his friend and helper Andreas Wimmer got together to create new, ambitious films beyond the mainstream . After just a few days of shooting and a minimalist budget of less than 100 euros, they realized the short film “Mr. Self Destruct ”which received the audience award at the Fright Night's horror film festival in 2009 and was published in 2 editions of 111 and 500 copies. Since then, Binder has also been able to make a name for himself outside of Black Lava Entertainment , in the international independent film scene, by collaborating with directors such as Olaf Ittenbach and Martin Faltermeier.
“Black Lava's Trash Container” was published on July 1, 2010 in an edition of 1,000 and was available in international stores, the DVD is already out of print. In addition to the previous releases by Brandl Pictures via Binder's label Blacklava, the American film "Fetus" by Brian Paulin was released in May 2013 in an exclusive small edition and later also in a close-up. Fetus is one of the milestones in the history of the label and opened up completely new opportunities for Binder. In the same year one of the most controversial films of the German underground was completed, Necrophile Passion. Binder worked here under the pseudonym "Tom Heidenberg". Due to the problems of the past and his job at an Austrian television station at the time, he wanted to work anonymously. Necrophile Passion enjoyed great popularity in the international market and was distributed in the USA and Canada by Unearthed Films on both DVD and digital. The international breakthrough of the label was achieved and one could look forward to many collaborations with great artists of the scene. The absolute highlights include the publication of Thanatomorphose by Eric Falardeau, which has won over 20 international prizes.
In 2014, Lucifer Valentine signed with Blacklava. Valentine is one of the most mysterious and most hyped filmmakers on the international independent scene. He is responsible for the Vomit Gore films as well as the Black Metal Veins and the Angela Chapters.
Since 2015, Binder has been working with the Bavarian filmmaker Jonas Sommer on a short film called Antithese, which will premiere on DVD in 2017.
In 2016 he founded the merchandise label BHM Mailorder , which sells merchandise and fan articles from the film and music sectors. One of the first own publications was a 100-piece limited t-shirt for the film The Human Centipede by Tom Six .
