Thomas Dünchheim

Thomas Dünchheim is a German legal scholar , politician ( CDU ) and non-fiction author .

Life

After graduating from Konrad-Adenauer-Gymnasium in Langenfeld in May 1988, Dünchheim studied from October 1988 to August 1991 at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in North Rhine-Westphalia . At the same time he was a trainee inspector for the Mettmann district administration . In September 1991, Dünchheim passed the state examination for a degree in administration (FH). From September 1991 to March 1995 he worked as a civil servant in the higher non-technical service at the Mettmann district administration, head of the food law, animal welfare and veterinary sector.

From October 1991 to February 1995 Dünchheim studied law at the University of Cologne and passed his first state examination in March 1995 . From April 1994 to March 1997 he was a research assistant to Klaus Stern at the Institute for Constitutional, Administrative Law and Administrative Doctrine at the University of Cologne, providing expert advice on projects relating to state organizational law, savings bank law, public banking law, corporate law, public commercial law and environmental law. From April 1997 to September 1999, Dünchheim also worked as a research assistant at the chair for general political theory, constitutional and administrative law with Joachim Burmeister . In April 1999 he passed his second state examination in law. In 2002 , Dünchheim received his doctorate on the subject of "Administrative procedural law under European influence" as a Doctor iuris .

From September 1999 to September 2009, Dünchheim was the full-time mayor of the city of Monheim am Rhein and as such was responsible for the legal, personnel and organization, urban planning and economic development departments. At the same time, he was chairman of the supervisory board of Monheimer Verkehrs- und Betriebsbetriebe GmbH and MEGA Monheim GmbH, deputy chairman of Verbandswasserwerke Langenfeld-Monheim GmbH, and a member of the administrative board and credit committee / risk committee of Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf, as well as a member of the board of the Council of European Communities and Regions ( CEMR). From September 1999 to March 2001, Dünchheim was also Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Credit Committee of the Stadtsparkasse Monheim am Rhein.

From 2004 to 2009 Dünchheim was a member of the Presidium of the Association of Cities and Municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia .

From 1994 to 2005, Dünchheim was a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and from 2006 to 2008 taught public law - in particular public business law, municipal law, and environmental and construction law - at the law faculty of Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf . Since 2014, Dünchheim has been a lecturer at EBS Law School Wiesbaden , where he has held a professorship for constitutional and constitutional law as well as public commercial law since February 2016.

Thomas Dünchheim has been a lawyer and partner at the law firm Hogan Lovells International LLP since October 2009 . There he heads the "Public Sector" practice group and the international gaming law initiative of Hogan Lovells. Since January 2016 he has also headed the Düsseldorf office of Hogan Lovells International LLP as Office Managing Partner.

Dünchheim is married and has two children.
