Thomas Dietrich (born February 3, 1958 in Bergneustadt ) is a German theater director and actor. He lives in Neu-Ulm .

Life

Dietrich grew up in Hanover . He studied German at the University of Hanover (now Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University ), philosophy and pedagogy for higher education. After passing the 1st state examination in 1982, he completed his studies in 1983 with a master's degree with the thesis “Woyzeck - Wozzeck. A comparison of drama and opera ”. During his time in Hanover he sang in several professional and semi-professional choirs in Hanover and the surrounding area. He also played in various theater groups.

Theater career

Dietrich has been on stage regularly since 1969, first in the children's choir of the Hanover State Opera, later there as an extra and in the extra choir. From 1979 to 1991 he took part regularly in the International Youth Festival Meeting in Bayreuth, first as a choir singer, later as a director and lecturer. After completing his studies, he first worked at the Hanover State Opera as head of extras and then at the Ulm Theater initially as assistant director and actor, later as dispatcher and director, staging operettas, operas and supporting programs there. He also took on roles in music and spoken theater. During this time he passed his stage maturity examination in drama.

Since 1991 he has been working mainly as a freelance director, but was interrupted from 1994 to 1996 when he was director of the Neu-Ulm Theater and also directed there. After his time in Ulm and Neu-Ulm, he again took on a wide range of freelance activities in various theater productions. From 2007 to 2010 he was also the stage manager for the circus tours of “ Africa! Africa! "And" India "active.
