Thomas Eriksson (born October 16, 1959 in Borlänge ) is a former Swedish cross-country skier .

Career

Eriksson already competed in the Olympic races in Lake Placid at the age of twenty . Here, however, he was only able to place himself in the top ten with the relay as fifth, in the two individual races over 15 and 50 kilometers Eriksson was eleventh and sixteenth respectively. In the same year he won the Svenska Skidspelen in Falun in the 30 km race.

Eriksson started in his second professional race organized by the FIS at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1982 . After finishing fourth in his first 15 km World Cup, he was able to become world champion over 30 km in Oslo . He then competed in several World Cups, but always missed the podium. In 1985 he was again a relay runner for Sweden and was able to achieve the bronze medal at the World Championships in Seefeld in Tyrol together with his three teammates . Also in 1987 and 1989 he took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships, but he could not achieve any medal success.

In the World Cup, however, Eriksson now achieved some successes, for example he won the 1986 30 km race in Davos. In 1991 Eriksson was again a relay member at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Fiemme Valley and was able to win the silver medal, in the individual he also placed well in seventh place. Eriksson last competed in a world championship in 1993 at the age of 33, but he clearly missed the places in the top ten in Falun. At the end of his career, Eriksson only competed in FIS races before ending his career in 1997. At Swedish championships he was once over 15 km (1981) and twice over 50 km (1981, 1982) champion.
