Thomas Euting

Thomas Euting (born September 17, 1952 in Langenberg, Gütersloh district ) is a German television journalist and editor . Between 2000 and 2007 he was the head of the ZDF State Studio Saxony in Dresden .

Euting was trapped on August 24, 1992 as a reporter for ZDF magazine Kennzeichen D during the riots in Rostock-Lichtenhagen in Rostock's Sonnenblumenhaus residence for foreigners with around 115 Vietnamese , while the building was stormed by xenophobic citizens. He noted: “The emergency exits to the neighboring house are all barricaded by the German neighbors and secured with chains. You want to prevent the annoying foreigners from coming over. ” In this situation, Euting wrote a farewell letter to his wife.

Euting was awarded the IG Medien Journalist Prize , the Telestar from ARD and ZDF and the Carl von Ossietzky Medal from the Berlin International League for Human Rights for his hallmark D report on this event .

In September 2007 Euting went to the ZDF headquarters in Mainz . There he takes care of the coordination of the ZDF partner programs and Arte . With this task, Thomas Euting has been promoted to the editor-in-chief of ZDF.
