Thomas Fiedler (director)

Thomas Fiedler (born April 3, 1974 in Bonn ) is a German director and author . He is co-founder of the interdisciplinary artist group Kommando Himmelfahrt .

Life

Thomas Fiedler grew up in Bonn and Brussels . After high school and community service, he studied musical theater directing at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater and at the University of Hamburg from 1994 to 1999.

At the center of his work are interdisciplinary concepts between music theater, performance, installation and concert, which have been performed at numerous German opera houses and theaters. Since 2008, the productions of the artist group Kommando Himmelfahrt, which he and the Hamburg composer Jan Dvorak founded, have been the focus of his work.

In 1999 he went to the Lucerne Theater with Barbara Mundel , where he initially worked as an assistant director and later as a director and dramaturge. From 2005 to 2007 he was artistic director of the experimental venue and member of the artistic management of the Theater Aachen. He worked u. a. with the directors Reinhild Hoffmann , René Pollesch , Albrecht Hirche, Falk Richter , Christoph Marthaler and Michael Talke .

Since 2001 he has been working freelance from Berlin. His work has been shown at independent venues such as Kampnagel Hamburg, HAU Berlin, Heimathafen Neukölln and Berghain - Berlin, as well as the Wuppertal Opera, Oberhausen Theater , Oldenburg State Theater , Cottbus State Theater , Theater an der Parkaue - Berlin, Freiburg Theater, Meiningen State Theater, Saarland State Theater Saarbrücken , Theater Aachen , Semperoper Dresden, Lucerne Theater , State Theater Mainz , Schauspielhaus Zurich , Ruhrtriennale , National Theater Mannheim .

He also has a continuous working relationship with Ensemble Resonanz , ensemble mosaik and the Collegium Novum Zurich . Performances of joint works took place at the festivals Eight Bridges Cologne , Time of Music - Viitasaari in Finland and summer courses for new music in Darmstadt and Kontraklang in Berlin.
