Thomas Fink (musician)

Thomas Fink (born May 26, 1935 in Niederndorf ) is a German jazz pianist .

Life

Fink comes from a musical family; his father was a church organist and leader of a brass band. Fink was already playing in the Nuremberg Jazz Studio in 1955 . For several decades he was the "resident pianist" at the Bavarian Radio Studio in Nuremberg ; until it was dissolved in 1992, it was part of the BR Bigband , led by Josef Niessen and later Ed Sperber . He also belonged to the Noris Swingtett. In 1976 he met bassist Rainer Glas for the first time (in the band of guitarist Jan Rigo). Since then, Fink and Glas have been playing together, accompanying countless soloists, recording several albums together and traveling to many countries. Since 1988 the drummer and singer Carola Gray has completed his Thomas Fink Trio . In 2001 he was awarded the culture prize in his home town of Herzogenaurach.

The bassist Johannes Fink is his son.
