Thomas Francis Hendricken (born May 5, 1827 in Kilkenny , County Kilkenny , Ireland , † June 11, 1886 in Providence , Rhode Island , USA ) was Bishop of Providence .

Life

Thomas Francis Hendricken attended St. Kiernan's College . He received on 25 April 1853 by the bishop of Hartford , Bernard O'Reilly , the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On February 16, 1872 Pope Pius IX appointed him . to the Bishop of Providence. The Archbishop of New York , John McCloskey , donated him episcopal ordination on April 28 of that year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Boston , John Joseph Williams , and the Bishop of Portland , David William Bacon .

Thomas Francis Hendricken initiated the construction of the Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral in Providence. The Bishop Thomas Francis Hendricken High School in Warwick was named after him.
