Thomas Froschauer

Thomas Froschauer (* 1979 in Amstetten ) is an Austrian drummer who has made a name for himself in the field of jazz .

Live and act

Froschauer, who was a member of the Amstettner Musikanten brass bands and the Mostviertler Birnbeitler , studied jazz drums at the Vienna Conservatory between 1997 and 2003 with Walter Grassmann, Fredi Mühlhofer and Harry Demmer. Further studies with Jojo Mayer , John Riley , Jim Black , Josef Gumpinger and Joris Dudli followed. Since 2002 he has been a member of the quartet of Clemens Salesny and Bumi Fian , with whom he has appeared at festivals such as INNtöne .

Between 2005 and 2008 he was part of the Vienna Jazz Workshop , with which he received the Hans Koller Prize in 2006. In the same year he performed with Wolfgang Puschnig and the Amstettner Musikanten at the JazzFest Berlin . Since 2006 he has been part of the Hiroi Trio , with whom he released two albums. Since 2002 he has been teaching at the music schools in Amstetten and Ybbs as well as at numerous workshops. He can also be heard on recordings by Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung ( Never Again Art ), Andy Lee Lang ( The very Best of Viva Las Vegas ) and François Guilbeault ( trainee ).
