Thomas Gemke (born December 16, 1957 in Werl ) is a German local politician ( CDU ). He has been the full-time district administrator of the Märkischer Kreis since 2009 .

Life and work

Thomas Gemke has lived in Balve since he was four . He is married and has two children.

He worked in the Arnsberg district government, the Münster district government and in the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of the Interior as well as a department head in the Hagen joint area computer center, responsible for personnel, finances and organization.

Political career

He had been a member of the Junge Union since 1972, then a member of the CDU since 1974, and from 1982 to 1984 he was also district chairman of the Junge Union. From 1998 to 2008 he was chairman of the CDU district parliamentary group.

From 1999 to 2009 he was chairman of the supervisory board of the Märkische Verkehrsgesellschaft .

Since 1984 he has been a member of the Balve City Council, and from 1984 to 1994 he was parliamentary group leader in the Balve City Council. He has been a member of the district council since 1994. From 2008 to 2009 he was the first deputy district administrator, and on October 21, 2009 he took office as the directly elected district administrator of the Märkisches Kreis.

He is a member of the Landscape Assembly Westphalia-Lippe (since 2009) and association chairman of the municipal IT service provider KDVZ Citkomm in Iserlohn. Since June 2018 he has been President of the Sauerland Mountain Association (SGV).
