Thomas Grasberger
Thomas Grasberger (born May 30, 1964 in Altötting ) is a German journalist and author.
Life
Grasberger grew up in the Upper Bavarian pilgrimage town of Altötting. There he attended the district high school, where he graduated from high school in 1985 after interruptions. As a conscientious objector , he did his twenty month community service at the Bund Naturschutz in Altötting. In 1987 he began studying political science, philosophy and Bavarian history at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Thanks to a scholarship, he was able to spend a semester abroad at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok ( Thailand ) in 1991/92 . In 1993 he completed his studies in Munich with a master's thesis on Alexis de Tocqueville . 1993/94 he attended the German School of Journalism in Munich (compact class K32) and then worked as a freelance journalist for the Süddeutsche Zeitung , the Bayerischer Rundfunk (radio) and the Munich newspaper , where he was from 1996 to 1998 editor- in feature was active. With the birth of their first son, Grasberger went on (at that time unpaid) "paternity leave" and in the following years wrote as a freelance journalist for various newspapers and magazines (SZ, Die Zeit , Die Welt , Focus, Abenteuer & Reisen, Berge, Buchreport ). Since the beginning of the 2000s he has been working as a “permanent freelance” author for Bayerischer Rundfunk (Bayern 2). Programs about Bavarian history, culture and literature are just as much a part of his topics as travel reports, feature pages and calendar pages. From 2013 to 2015 he taught as a lecturer at the University of Bayreuth at the chair of "Literary Studies: Job-related" on the subjects of "Journalism on the radio", "History on the radio", "Literary portraits on the radio". In 2017 he was appointed to the Munich tower scribe.
Grasberger lives in Munich with his wife and two sons.
