Thomas Hitzbleck

Thomas Hitzbleck (born March 12, 1947 in Wilhelmshaven ) is a former German rower .

Athletic career

The 1.96 m tall Thomas Hitzbleck from the Emden rowing club took seventh place in the foursome with helmsman together with Volkhard Buchter , Jochen Heck and Manfred Weinreich at the 1966 World Championships . In 1967 the four rowers with helmsman Peter Winiarski won the German championship title in four with helmsman. At the European Championships in 1967 , the crew took fifth place. In 1968 the four rowers won the German championship title in the four without a helmsman . At the 1968 Olympic Games , Hitzbleck, Buchter, Weinreich and Heck rowed to sixth place.

In 1969 Weinreich and Hitzbleck sat in the German eight , who won the bronze medal behind the eight from the GDR and the Soviet Union at the European Championships in 1969 . In 1970, Hitzbleck reached fourth place at the world championships with the German eighth . At the European Championships in 1971 , Hitzbleck finished sixth with the German eighth.

In 1973 and 1974 Thomas Hitzbleck won the German championship title with the four-man with helmsman of the rowing club at Baldeneysee in Essen, both times together with Manfred Weinreich and Hans-Jürgen Hitzbleck. In 1973 Weinreich and the Hitzbleck brothers also won with the eighth. At the European Championships in 1973 , Hitzbleck took ninth place with the four-man with helmsman, and at the 1974 World Championships , the four-man came eleventh. In 1975 Hitzbleck won the German championship title in two with helmsman for the Rvg together with Klaus Jäger and Frank Kerkhoff . Hellas-Titania Berlin , at the 1975 World Championships , Jäger and Hitzbleck and helmsman Holger Hocke received bronze in a pair with helmsman. At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal , Hitzbleck, Jäger and Hocke missed the A final; in the small final, Jäger, Hocke and Winfried Ringwald, who replaced Hitzbleck, took second place and thus eighth place in the overall standings.
