Thomas Kretschmer (politician)

Thomas Kretschmer (born October 20, 1954 in Magdeburg ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He lives in Mühlhausen .

education and profession

After attending school, Kretschmer began studying at the Ilmenau University of Applied Sciences in 1976 , which he completed in 1981 as a graduate engineer for component electronics. From 1983 to 1985 he completed a postgraduate course at the Technical University of Karl-Marx-Stadt with a degree as a specialist engineer for microprocessor technology.

Kretschmer worked in Erfurt from 1981 to 1982 as a research and development employee. From 1982 to 1991 he worked as a program analyst and software engineer in Mühlhausen .

From May 2008 to 2013 he was managing director of the Society for Employment and Economic Development of the Free State of Thuringia mbH (GFAW) in Erfurt, a subsidiary of the Thuringian construction bank . From 2013 to 2014 he studied mediation at the Erfurt University of Applied Sciences . Since then he has been working as a freelance business mediator for the Central Office for Mediation .

politics

Kretschmer is a member of the district council in the Unstrut-Hainich district and was elected chairman of the CDU district association Unstrut-Hainich in February 2015.

From 1990 to 2008 Kretschmer was a member of the Thuringian state parliament . In the state elections in 1994 , 1999 and 2004 , he entered parliament as a direct candidate through the constituency Unstrut-Hainich-Kreis I. Until 1994 he was chairman of the economic committee in the state parliament; Subsequently, he exercised the function of economic policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group.
