Thomas "Lechi" Lechner (born October 22, 1985 in Mürzzuschlag , Styria ) is a former Austrian football player . He reached 3rd place with the Austrian U-19 national team at the U-19 European Championship in 2003 and was used for several Austrian Bundesliga clubs.
Career
Lechner's youth club was the ATuS Wartberg from Wartberg in Mürz Valley in Styria . As a youngster he went to Graz to the Grazer AK . From 2004 he came to regular missions as a cooperation player at Kapfenberger SV . In 2005 he came back to the GAK, where he was able to play first with the amateurs and from the 2006/07 season also in the Bundesliga squad regularly in central defense and sporadically as a full-back.
Lechner was the youngest player in the Austrian U-19 national team. In 2003 he was nominated for the U-19 European Championship, where he won the bronze medal as a regular player and one of the top performers in the Austrian U-19 selection. Later he also came repeatedly to missions in the U-21 national team.
In the summer break before the 2007/08 season, Lechner moved to SV Ried , which he left on January 5, 2008 to return to his former club in Kapfenberg . During the winter break of the 2008/09 season, Thomas Lechner moved from Kapfenberger SV to the fifth-class league club SV Pachern in Hart bei Graz . The club secured the championship title after 22 of 26 rounds and thus promotion to the Styrian regional league . After a period without a club, Lechner was committed to the regional league team DSV Leoben at the end of 2010 , for which he first appeared on March 5, 2011. He was in the starting line-up at the home game against his ex-club GAK.
