Thomas Marquardt

Thomas Marquardt (born July 29, 1957 in Paderborn ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2012 to 2017 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

Marquardt grew up near the Grimberg colliery in Bergkamen - Weddinghofen . In 1976 he passed his Abitur at Bergkamen Gymnasium . In 1983 he finished his studies made possible by the Bundeswehr as a qualified pedagogue with a focus on adult education at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg and then worked as a career officer. For the German Armed Forces he was active in many countries, including Kosovo , Macedonia , Canada and the United States . Until 2012 he was barracks commander of the Lützow barracks in Münster - Handorf .

Party and politics

Marquardt has been a member of the SPD since 1993. He was chairman of the Handorf local association for eight years, from 2004 to 2009 chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the Münster-Ost district council and from 2009 until his election to the state council of the city of Münster . In the state elections in 2012 , he won the direct mandate in the Münster I constituency .

In the state parliament, Marquardt was a member of the interior and legal committee, the executive commission and secretary. In addition, Marquardt was the representative of the SPD parliamentary group for the interests of the Bundeswehr.

Private

Marquardt has lived in Münster-Handorf with his wife and four children since 1994. He also played soccer actively until he tore his cruciate ligament .
