Thomas Merkel

Thomas Merkel ( May 5, 1964 - September 15, 2015 ) was a German ice hockey player who played in the 2nd Bundesliga for Eintracht Frankfurt and the Heilbronner EC .

Player career

The striker began his career with the Eintracht Frankfurt ice hockey team , for which he was on the ice in the 2nd Bundesliga between 1983 and 1985 . Merkel then moved to the upper division Heilbronner EC , with whom he rose to the 2nd Bundesliga in 1987 . In six years, interrupted by a one-year break due to the insolvency of the club in 1989, Merkel completed 269 league appearances for the HEC and is still third in the club's internal record player list. The attacker ended his career after the 1995/96 season with third division club SC Bietigheim-Bissingen .
