Thomas Ohlemacher

Thomas Ohlemacher (born April 8, 1962 - † November 7, 2015 ) was a German criminal sociologist who was mainly concerned with police research. Most recently he worked for the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior .

Ohlemacher studied sociology , political science and law at Philipps University Marburg , the University of Birmingham and the University of Hamburg . In Hamburg he put 1988 the exam to graduate political scientist and was in 1992 at the Free University of Berlin Dr. phil. PhD .

From 1993 to 2002 he was a senior staff member at the Criminological Research Institute of Lower Saxony . During this time he completed his habilitation in Hamburg in 2000. From 2002 to 2007 he was professor for criminal sciences with a focus on criminology at the Lower Saxony University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Justice in Hildesheim and until 2007 at the same time private lecturer at the Institute for Social Sciences of the University of Hildesheim . Before moving to the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior in 2014, he taught as a professor at the North German University of Justice from 2007 .

Ohlemacher is buried in the St. Petri cemetery in Göttingen-Weende .
