Thomas Ostwald (born January 26, 1949 in Braunschweig ) is a German literary scholar , author and publisher . Ostwald also publishes under the pseudonym Tomos Forrest .

Life

With his work Friedrich Gerstäcker - Leben und Werk , published in 1976, he founded the newer Gerstäcker research. He has been the chairman of the Friedrich-Gerstäcker-Gesellschaft eV since it was founded and runs the Gerstäcker Museum in Braunschweig, where he was born and lived .

In addition, Ostwald has been heavily involved in classic adventure and travel novels over the past 30 years , has published its own magazine on the subject and founded the magazine for American Studies ( Wyk auf Föhr ) , which still exists today . From 2014 to 2019 Thomas Ostwald performed the stage version of the " Heinrich-der-Löwe- Legend", which he wrote, in Braunschweig with 50 amateur actors. The indoor version was followed in May by the outdoor version in the Magniviertel in Braunschweig, at which, at the end of each Whit Monday, the Heinrich the Lion Festival, people dressed in the Middle Ages as Heinrich, court and citizens marched through the city center.
