Thomas Platter the Younger

Thomas Platter the Younger (* July 24, 1574 in Basel ; † December 4, 1628 there ) was a botanist and physician and an autobiographical writer.

The son of Thomas Platters the elder from his second marriage received his education, as did his half-brother Felix Platter , who emerged from his father's first marriage, in Montpellier and became professor of anatomy and botany in 1614, and in 1624 of medicine at the University of Basel, its dean and rector he was several times. At the same time he also worked as a city doctor.

In his culturally and historically significant description of his trip to England in 1599 , he provided a detailed description of London's theater life.

His son Felix Platter (1605–1671) was a professor of logic and physics and wrote various astronomical works.
