Thomas Robert Weihrauch (born November 23, 1942 in Munich ) is a German internist specializing in gastroenterology , internal therapy and drug research .

Life

Weihrauch studied medicine from 1963 to 1969 at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and at the University of Munich . In 1969 he completed his studies with the medical state examination and the US state examination ECFMG . In 1970 he received his license to practice medicine, and Weihrauch was awarded a Dr. med. PhD. Weihrauch then completed his clinical training in Kiel and then worked at various university clinics, from 1970 to 1971 he was in Phoenix ( USA ). From 1971 to 1981 Weihrauch worked at the medical clinic and polyclinic of the University of Mainz , where he received his habilitation in internal medicine in 1979 . From 1976 to 1981 he was a member of the hospital's permanent medicinal product commission.

In 1981 he was appointed professor for life in internal medicine with a focus on gastroenterology at the Steglitz Clinic of the Free University of Berlin . In 1989 he was re-qualified and appointed as an adjunct professor at the University of Düsseldorf , as well as being appointed examiner for the 3rd section of the medical state examination for the subject of clinical pharmacology .

In 1982 he resigned as head of the Department of Clinical Pathophysiology and Clinical Research in the pharmaceutical research of AG Bayer one. From 1985 to 1995 he was head of the medical and development department. Since 1995 he has been head of the International Medicine division and was also a member of the management of the health sector for self-medication (1984–1987) and pharmaceuticals (1991–1993).

Weihrauch retired in 2002 and has been a consultant in medical research since 2003. Since 2016 he has been an honorary doctor at the Düsseldorf Health Department in the refugee clinic and drug therapy outpatient clinic. He is also the author of numerous scientific publications and book contributions.

Weihrauch is married to Birgit Weihrauch , a retired state councilor. D. The couple have two children.
