Thomas Scott (sound engineer)
Thomas Scott (born before 1977) is an American sound engineer .
Life
Scott studied civil engineering and worked for the Peace Corps in Venezuela for two years . After his time with the Peace Corps, he started working at a recording studio in Los Angeles . In 1979 he was engaged for Francis Ford Coppola's war film Apocalypse Now , with which he began his career as a sound engineer, which lasted only half a decade. In 1984 he received his first Oscar in the Best Sound category for The Stuff The Heroes Are Made Of , along with Mark Berger , Randy Thom and David MacMillan . The following year he received his second Oscar for Amadeus , along with Mark Berger, Todd Boekelheide and Christopher Newman . Between 1985 and 1992 he was chief engineer at Skywalker Sound , a division of LucasArts ; afterwards he founded the company EDnet together with other LucasArts employees , of which he has been vice president since 1992. He is a member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES), the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
