Thomas Stomberg (born Trella , * 31 January 1987 in Haan ) is an International Master of chess and A-license coach of the German Chess Federation .

Career

At the age of ten, Thomas Stomberg joined SC Erkrath in 1973 , which established his chess training. After participating in the German individual youth championships several times, he switched to Schachfreunde Gerresheim 86 in 2004 , where he played in the 2nd Bundesliga West for several years. He has been playing for SV Dinslaken 1923 since 2011, together with his long-time coach Guido Kern , among others . In the Dutch Meester class , Stomberg played for ESGOO Enschede from 2009 to 2011 , since 2011 he has played for SV Voerendaal (since 2018 SV Zuid-Limburg ), with which he played in 2012became Dutch team champion; In the Belgian first division he has been playing for KSK 47 Eynatten since 2010 , with whom he became Belgian team champion in 2011 , 2014 and 2017 .

In October 2013 Thomas Stomberg was named International Master by the World Chess Federation FIDE . He won the first standard required for this in 2009 at the second Dortmund Helmut Kohls memorial tournament by sharing first place with the international champion Markus Schäfer . He was able to win the tournament in the first edition in 2008 by exceeding the required performance, but due to formal circumstances it was not possible to achieve the norm. He reached the second norm at the 15th International Neckar Open 2011 in Deizisau , the third and last he achieved in the 2012/13 season of the NRW class on the first board of SV Dinslaken.

Its Elo rating is 2358 (as of February 2020), its highest to date was 2415 from July to November 2011.

Thomas Stomberg is also A-licensed trainer of the German Chess Federation and headed the Essen / Mülheim cadre base of the North Rhine-Westphalia Chess Federation from 2009 to 2010.
