Thomas Stritzl (born September 22, 1957 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From September 1987 to October 2009 he was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein State Parliament. From 2005 to 2009 he was deputy chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein CDU parliamentary group from 2000 to 2005 First Vice President of the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein . From 2013 to 2017 Stritzl was a member of the German Bundestag.

Live and act

After graduating from the North Sea High School in Sankt Peter-Ording , Stritzl did his military service in the German Navy. He then became a member of the Corps Palaiomarchia-Masovia Kiel and completed his law studies at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel , which he completed with the first state examination in law. After completing his legal traineeship and the second state examination in law, Stritzl was legal advisor and managing director for several companies (including tax consultancy, clinic). Today he is a licensed attorney at the Kiel Regional Court and as such also works in this profession. Since 2013, Stritzl has also been a member of the Board of Directors of Förde Sparkasse Kiel. Stritzl has a daughter and lives with his family in the north of Kiel.

Already in 1976 Stritzl joined the Junge Union (JU) and the CDU. From 1978 to 1980 he was chairman of the JU district association in North Friesland and from 1981 to 1987 he sat on the federal board of the Junge Union. In 1986 he became state chairman of the JU in Schleswig-Holstein ; he held this office until 1992.

In addition to his offices in the JU, Stritzl was Vice President of the Democrat Youth Community of Europe and from 1979 to 1983 spokesman for conscripts on the federal executive board of the German Federal Armed Forces Association.

Time as a member of the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein and district chairman of the CDU Kiel

Stritzl has been a member of the CDU state executive in Schleswig-Holstein since 1987. There he was deputy CDU state chairman from 1991 to 2002 and chairman of the CDU district association in Kiel from 2003 to January 25, 2019 . In a battle vote, he was defeated by member of the state parliament Tobias von der Heide . Also in 1987 Stritzl was elected as a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament; he held this office for 22 years until 2009. During his time as a member of parliament, Stritzl was a parliamentary group spokesman for the areas of youth, the environment, justice and finance and a full member of the economic committee of the state parliament. From 2002 to 2004, he was chairman of the committee of inquiry to clarify legal violations and other misconduct by members of the state government or employees of the state in procurement procedures. In 2000, Stritzl was elected First Vice-President of the Schleswig-Holstein State Parliament, and in 2005 he was elected Deputy Chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein CDU State Parliament.

Member of the German Bundestag

Stritzl ran unsuccessfully for the 2013 federal election in the Kiel constituency , but entered the German Bundestag via the CDU state list . Here he was a full member of the committee for health and there rapporteur for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group for the private health insurance sector. He was also a deputy member of the Legal Affairs and Consumer Protection Committee , the Defense Committee and the Economic Cooperation and Development Committee .

Stritzl was also deputy chairman of the Bundestag delegation of the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference (BSPC), deputy member of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PV), member of the Africa working group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group as well as the German-Nordic parliamentary group, the parliamentary groups ASEAN and Eastern Africa.

In the 2017 federal election , Stritzl ran again in the constituency of Kiel, but was narrowly defeated and this time could not move into the German Bundestag via the CDU state list. However, in the event that a Schleswig-Holstein CDU holder retired, he would be the first to succeed .
