Pavel Posád

Pavel Posád (born June 28, 1953 in Budkov ) is a Czech clergyman. He was bishop of Leitmeritz from 2003 to 2008 and is now auxiliary bishop in Budweis .

Life

Pavel Posád attended high school in Moravské Budějovice and entered the Leitmeritz seminary in 1972. In 1977, he was the Olomouc Apostolic Administrator Josef Vrana for priests ordained and was then in various places in Roman Catholic Diocese of Brno as Kaplan worked. In 1980 he became pastor of Ratíškovice , but two years later on the instructions of the state authorities he was transferred to the parish of Drnholec in the border area . In 1989 he became spiritual director in Třešť .

After the political upheaval in 1989, Pavel Posád became pastor of St. Thomas in Brno and three years later spiritual of the Olomouc archbishop's seminary. In addition, he performed various tasks in the diocese of Brno. On December 24, 2003, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Leitmeritz. The Archbishop of Prague, Miloslav Cardinal Vlk , gave him his episcopal ordination on January 28, 2004.

Pavel Posád was a member of the council of priests for eleven years. As a member of the Czech Bishops' Conference , he is a member of the Commission for the Clergy .

On November 6, 2004, the Bishop of Königgrätz , Dominik Duka , was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the diocese due to persistent health problems . On January 26, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Pavel Posád as titular bishop of Poetovium and auxiliary bishop in Budweis .
