Thomas Wilking
Thomas Wilking (born January 2, 1956 in Dortmund ) is a former German athlete who specialized in the 800 and 400 meter distances . At the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1981 in Grenoble , he finished 6th in the 800-meter run .
career path
In parallel to his sports career, Wilking studied communication science in Münster , obtained his doctorate and worked as a journalist . From 1988 to 1999 he was editor of the specialist journal buchreport . After working for a PR agency, he has been editor-in-chief of buchreport since 2006.
Athletic career
In 1979 Wilking became German runner-up over 800 meters. At the German indoor championships he won the championship title in 1980 and 1983 and the runner-up in 1981. In 1982 Wilking was German champion in the 4 x 400 meter relay as well as German indoor champion with Mark Henrich , Jörg Vaihinger , Hartmut Weber and himself in third position.
Club membership
He started for OSC Dortmund until 1983 , then for VfL Kamen .
