Thomas Wilson (politician, 1772)

Thomas Wilson (* 1772 near Sunbury , Northumberland County , Province of Pennsylvania , † October 4, 1824 in Erie , Pennsylvania ) was an American politician.

Wilson had a contract to supply the western forts of the United States from Niagara Falls to New Orleans . In 1805 he was also active in shipbuilding in Erie, Pennsylvania. He also built ships for trading on the Great Lakes .

In 1808 he was town clerk of Erie and from 1809 to 1812 treasurer of Erie County . In 1811, Wilson became a county commissioner . In addition, he worked as a justice of the peace ( justice of the peace ).

Wilson was elected as a Republican to Congress to fill the vacant seat of the resigned Abner Lacock . He represented the state of Pennsylvania from May 4, 1813 to March 3, 1817 in the House of Representatives of the United States . Subsequently, Wilson was a member of the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania from 1817 to 1820 .
