Thorsten Barg (born August 25, 1986 in Herrenberg ) is a German soccer player and today's coach who played for the third division club SV Wehen Wiesbaden until 2013 . He is currently the player-coach of SG Walluf in the regional upper league Rheingau-Taunus.
Career
Thorsten Barg initially played in the youth teams of SV Oberreichenbach , VfL Herrenberg and VfL Bochum . With the Bochum A-Juniors under coach Sascha Lewandowski he was twice German runner-up in 2004 and 2005 . In the 2005/06 season Barg was used by the amateurs of VfL Bochum in the Oberliga Westfalen . In 2006 he moved to the regional league team at Karlsruher SC . Since the 2008/09 season, the defender has been under contract with SV Wehen Wiesbaden, where he made five appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga . After the descent of Wiesbaden to the 3rd division in May 2009, Barg signed a new contract that was valid for both the 3rd and 2nd division.
After Barg at the beginning of the 2009/10 season, a torn ACL suffered and had become a regular at SVWW after six month break, he retired on the seventh day of the season 2010/11 a tear of the Achilles tendon to what for him in the following year and a half three meant further operations. After a two-year injury break, he made his comeback on October 27, 2012 in the away game at Alemannia Aachen (1: 1). Due to persistent complaints, however, Barg had to end his active career in the professional field at the end of the 2012/13 season.
He then worked in the junior division of the SVWW and played for TSG Wörsdorf in the Wiesbaden group league . From the beginning of 2015 he worked there as a player-coach and achieved promotion to the Association League Middle with his team in the summer of 2015 . In 2016 he left the club for SG Walluf in the Rheingau-Taunus regional league. He has also been a player-coach there since 2017.
His older brother, Benjamin Barg , is also a soccer player and is currently under contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach as a member of the regional league team.
