Thorsten Kruger
Thorsten Krüger (born February 8, 1966 in Bremerhaven ) is a German graduate in administration and politician ( SPD ). Since January 1st, 2015 he has been the mayor of Geestland . From 2005 to 2015 he was mayor of the city of Langen in Lower Saxony . Krüger is the managing director of Tourismus, Kur und Freizeit GmbH (TKF) in Bad Bederkesa .
Life and work
Thorsten Krüger was born in the Bremerhaven district of Lehe . His father worked as a fireman, his mother at the telecommunications office of the Deutsche Bundespost. Kruger has two siblings.
After completing secondary school at the Johann Gutenberg School in Bremerhaven in 1982, he began training as a telecommunications technician at Deutsche Bundespost Telekom, which he successfully completed in 1985. Thorsten Krüger attended the commercial training institutes in the Carl von Ossietzky school center in Bremerhaven until 1986, which enabled him to qualify for a technical college. Krüger then completed his basic military service in the air force at the Goslar air base and with the anti-aircraft missile squadron 37 in Cuxhaven -Altenwalde. Thorsten Krüger is a staff sergeant in the reserve . Thorsten Krüger then worked as a site manager and trainer at DBP Telekom. From 1992 he worked as a site manager and later branch manager in the construction industry.
In 1996 Thorsten Krüger began studying at the Federal University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in Mannheim , which he successfully completed in 1999 with a degree in public administration . At the beginning of his studies, Krüger switched to the Federal Employment Agency . He worked there until 2005, most recently as managing director for human resources and finance. He was also a trainer there for various specialist areas such as cost-performance accounting, controlling and personnel management. On November 2, 2014 he was elected mayor of the newly founded city of Geestland with 79.84% , which emerged on January 1, 2015 from the merger of the city of Langen and the municipality of Bederkesa .
