Thule seminar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Thule seminar is an association of " intellectual right-wing extremism ". The founder and leading theorist of the organization is the French publicist Pierre Krebs .

Emergence

The Thule seminar (“Working Group for Research into European Culture”) was founded in July 1980 in Kassel . In addition to Krebs, Wigbert Grabert and his wife Marielouise Grabert , Hans-Günther Grimm and Hans-Michael Fiedler are named as founding members . The first chairman was Pierre Krebs, who is still its director today. In the name it refers to the ethnic Thule society .

Immediately with the seminar's first book publication, “The immortal heritage. Alternatives to the Principle of Equality ” , published by Grabert-Verlag , Wigbert Grabert was able to bring together authors such as Armin Mohler , Alain de Benoist , Guillaume Faye and Hans Jürgen Eysenck (foreword) in 1981 . The club's influence remained small, however, and its publications were slow to sell. This led to the separation in 1983. Since then, Krebs has continued the seminar alone.

The club's logo consists of a Tiwaz rune that is crossed by a Sowilo rune. It is also used in combination with the sign of the "black sun" or in front of a stylized eagle.

Goals and content

According to Ines Aftenberger, the association includes a pronounced neo-paganism and propagates a " European rebirth as a pagan-metaphysical alternative ". The connection to the pagan heritage is made clear by the identification mark , a symbol of the black sun consisting of 12 sigrun . The Thule seminar was mainly influenced by the Nouvelle Droite , which propagated an Indo-European paganism. The Thule seminar did not have any major influence on the ideological orientation of the German New Right , because many right-wing intellectuals continue to orientate themselves on the model of the Christian Occident.

After the presentation of the seminar, the "species" of Europe should be protected from the "genetic material" of immigrants. Europe can only be "reborn" once this demand has been implemented. A basic goal of the Thule seminar is the suppression of pluralism and the " open society ": "The egalitarianism in its different variants: Christianity, Judaism, Marxism and liberalism is the main cause of the deep decadence of the modern world."

The magazine Germany in the past and present , published by Herbert Grabert , was initially also the communication organ of the Thule seminar. The communication organ is represented by the irregularly appearing Thule letters , as well as the magazine elements . The Metapo magazine was founded in 1999/2000 and should appeal to a younger audience. It was discontinued after four editions.

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution and various state authorities classify the association as right-wing extremist.

The association sees itself as an elite for the modernization of right-wing extremism and the creation of a cultural hegemony , i.e. influencing the public in the direction of their worldview.

The Thule Seminar honors Jürgen Rieger , Abelardo Linares y Muñoz , Dietrich Schuler and Dominique Venner as “companions” of their political work .
