The Tierpark Essehof is a small zoo in Essehof , a district of Lehr in Lower Saxony . It is located about 15 kilometers from Braunschweig in a forest directly on the A 2 . The next exit (teaching from Hanover, Braunschweig-Ost / teaching from Berlin) is around two kilometers away. The Noah's Ark Zoo Braunschweig describes itself as a sister zoo .
In the entrance area of the park there is a water educational trail with five ponds, a 30-meter-long oak bridge and an underwater station that allows a view three meters below the pond surface.
Various native wild animals such as lynx , eagle owls and fallow deer as well as some domestic animal breeds (cattle, Toggenburg goats , racket sheep , dwarf and Zamorano Leones giant donkeys ) are kept in the zoo .
Exotics are shown in plants according to their original continent. To live ostriches , zebras and Watusi cattle on the Africa Plant and emus and kangaroos completed at the 2007 walk- Australia investment . In the South American part , rheas , alpacas and great maras are shown.
The park was opened on Good Friday 1968 and has been privately owned by the Wilhelm family since 1991. Since then, all enclosures have been renovated.
