Essehof is a village in the municipality of teaching in the district of Helmstedt in Lower Saxony .

geography

The village is located directly south of the A 2 and 4.5 km west of the Wolfsburg / Königslutter motorway junction . It is located south of the core town of Lehr and borders on Wendhausen in the north-west and on Hordorf in the south.

history

In 1968 the Essehof zoo was opened in Essehof . It is located east of the center of the village and is a sister zoo of the Noah's Ark Zoo in Braunschweig, 15 km away .

On July 1, 1972, Essehof was incorporated into the community of teaching. On March 1, 1974, Essehof moved from the Braunschweig district to the Helmstedt district because the Braunschweig district was dissolved.
