Gotthard-Tilmann Mette (born October 28, 1956 in Bielefeld , known as Til Mette ) is a German cartoonist and painter .

He graduated from high school in Bielefeld . He studied history and art in Bremen , where he co-founded taz Bremen in 1985 . He lived in New York with his wife and two daughters from 1992 and has been based in Hamburg again since 2006. Mette mostly devotes herself to current topics from society and politics, which are published in the weekly magazine Stern - exclusively since 1995. Til Mette's brother Veit Mette is artistically active as a photographer.

After Til Mette, political cartoons are increasingly attacked. He sees this as a threat to liberal society.
