Timothy Johnson (born August 5, 1977 in Middleton , Oregon ) is a retired American cyclist .

Athletic career

Johnson started his career in 2001 with the Saturn Cycling Team . There he became national cross-country champion of the United States in his first year. After winning the mountain classification of the Tour de Toona in 2003, he secured two stage victories in the Herald Sun Tour as well as victory in the overall classification. The following year he drove for the Spanish team Saunier Duval-Prodir , but was unsuccessful. From 2006 Johnson drove for the American professional Continental Team Health Net-Maxxis . By the end of his career in 2014, he had won at least 54 cyclocross races. He was national cyclocross champion five times.

Tim Johnson is married to the Canadian cyclist Lyne Bessette ( as of 2017 ).
