Timothy J. "Tim" Kane (born April 28, 1968 in Lansing ) is a former American officer in the United States Air Force ( Lieutenant Colonel ), economist and publicist . He is chief economist at the Hudson Institute .

Life

Kane studied economics and political science at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs from 1986 to 1990 (Bachelor, 1990); the last rank was Lieutenant Colonel . He was u. a. Intelligence officer in Japan and South Korea. From 1998 to 2000 he was the founding director of the software company enonymous.com . His Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, San Diego in 2001 .

In 2002 the Republican ran unsuccessfully for the United States House of Representatives . He was Director of the Center for International Trade and Economics at the conservative Heritage Foundation in Washington and in 2007 was chief editor of the Index of Economic Freedom ( Index of Economic Freedom ) of the Wall Street Journal and the Heritage Foundation. From 2004 to 2008 the economist worked for the United States Congress Joint Economic Committee . In 2011 he was quoted several times in the Economic Report of the President . Kane is currently the chief economist at the conservative Hudson Institute in Croton-on-Hudson, New York. He also writes u. a. for The New York Times , Los Angeles Times , USA Today and The Atlantic . He kicked u. a. at Bloomberg Television , PBS and CNBC.
