Tim Ovens

Tim Ovens (born February 11, 1960 in Flensburg ) is a German pianist , chamber musician, composer and piano teacher .

Life

Tim Ovens studied piano in Hanover and Vienna with Kurt Bauer , Hans Leygraf , Karl Engel , Paul Badura-Skoda and Hans Kann . In 1987, at the age of 27, he was invited to the Xi'an Conservatory as a visiting professor for six months . He then taught at the music academies in Beijing (Central Conservatory), Shanghai , Shenyang , Jinan and Nanning and gave solo and orchestral concerts nationwide. Ovens was one of the first German pianists to live as a pianist and guest lecturer in China after the opening of China (until the end of 1988). Since then he has been working and performing regularly in various cities in the country. In 2006 the China Conservatory in Beijing awarded him a visiting professorship.

University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna

Tim Ovens lives in Hanover and Vienna. From 1988 to 2009 Tim Ovens taught as a lecturer at the Hanover University of Music and Theater . In 2009 he was appointed university professor for piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna .

Tim Ovens works internationally as a pianist. He appears at music festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival , the Dresden Music Festival , Ludwigsburg Castle Festival and others. One focus of artistic creation of Ovens is located next to the works of Robert Schumann and Claude Debussy to contemporary music . He has made a name for himself with the interpretation of the piano works of John Cage .

In 1996 Tim Ovens founded a duo together with the Chinese enthusiast Ma Xiao Hui , which performs traditional Chinese and Western music in arrangements.
