The ships in the Tanker SHI 70 000 Arc6 series are two-way tankers with icebreaking capabilities . They were built by the South Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries (Geoje Shipyard, Busan ) for the Russian company Sovcomflot . You sail under the flag of Russia , home port is St. Petersburg .

The ships with Panamax dimensions are designed as shuttle tankers. They are used for the transport of the Varandey oil field in the Pechora subsidized oil to Murmansk used. You have a loading device with a capacity of 10,000 m³ / h at the bow . The total capacity of the ten cargo tanks and the two slop tanks is 86,368.1 m³.

The ships can sail in ice-free and ice-covered waters. The hull of the ships is reinforced with ice, the ships are classified as ice class "1A Super" (Russian ice class "Arc6"). You can break ice up to 1.5 m thick and still reach a speed of up to 3  kn .

Technical specifications

The ships are powered by diesel-electric propulsion via two Azipods with an output of 10,000 kW each,  suspended under the stern . The electric motors each have an output of 11,600 kW. Two are for the power supply Wärtsilä - diesel generators type 16V38B installed, each with 11,200 kW. In addition, another generator with an output of 4,200 kW as well as a harbor generator with 1,000 kW and an emergency generator with 640 kW output are installed.
