List of grape varieties

'Tinta Barroca' is one of the six most important red wine varieties (in addition to the varieties ' Touriga Francesca ', ' Touriga Nacional ', ' Tinta Roriz ' (= 'Tempranillo'), ' Tinta Amarela ' and ' Tinto Cão ') for the production of port wine .

Origin, descent

It is a cross between the ' Marufo ' × ' Touriga Nacional ' varieties .

distribution

The early ripening variety is suitable for dry areas, such as those found on the slopes of the Douro , and produces dark, brightly colored wines. In Portugal it is cultivated on around 7,200 hectares . In addition to being used in port wine, it is also recommended for the Trás-os-Montes region . It is also approved in Madeira , Ribatejo and the Oeste region . In South Africa it is also widespread with 491 hectares of planted area and is used there for port wine-like wines. Smallest stands (0.0393 hectares, as of November 2015) were surveyed in Switzerland .
