Tisa from the Schulenburg Foundation

The Tisa von der Schulenburg Foundation is an independent general foundation under civil law . It was founded on May 4, 1992 and approved by the Ministry of the Interior of North Rhine-Westphalia on September 17, 1993. The foundation is named after the artist Tisa von der Schulenburg (* 1903; † 2001), who lived in Dorsten after 1948 , from 1950 as sister Paula in the Ursuline monastery there. The foundation is based in the Dorstener Galerie on Brunnenplatz in the district of Hervest, which is characterized by the mining of the Fürst Leopold colliery .

Foundation purpose

The Tisa from the Schulenburg Foundation serves exclusively and directly to promote art, especially the fine arts. The purpose of the foundation is to promote artists who deal with the working and social world, in particular with the situation of miners and industrial workers, and who present them artistically.

The foundation also has the task of collecting works by Tisa von der Schulenburg and making them available for exhibitions.

Tisa von der Schulenburg Prize

The purpose of the foundation is achieved in particular by awarding a sponsorship prize that is awarded every three years. The prize is awarded for special achievements by visual artists in the fields of painting , sculpture and graphics , for the first time in 1993. However, the intended award period of three years was exceeded by one year for the second prize winner. So far, the award has been awarded seven times.
