Titanic 2 - The Return is a low budget - disaster movie by Shane Van Dyke , who by crossing the fictional steamship II Titanic told in 2012 that ends in a disaster. The 2010 direct-to-DVD production by the filmmaker The Asylum is not a sequel to James Cameron's Titanic , but a mockbuster .

In April 2012, 100 years after the sinking of the RMS Titanic , the Titanic II, a luxury liner in the style of the Titanic, is to repeat the crossing of the Titanic on the same route. Due to global warming, some ice rocks in the Arctic are breaking off, causing tsunamis. James Maine, who works for the Coast Guard and is watching the demolition, then tries to warn his daughter Amy Maine, who works as a nurse on the steamer. She and her colleague Kelly Wade came on board at the request of her former friend Hayden Walsh, a playboy and the owner of the Titanic II. As the first giant waves roll towards the ship, the ship is to be evacuated. When the ship is caught from a broadside, however, half of all lifeboats are destroyed and the ship threatens to sink. Meanwhile, Amy tries with the help of Walsh to save her colleague, who is trapped, from the sinking ship. However, she dies on the way out of the ship. When a very large part of an ice floe breaks off, James warns his daughter not to get on one of the lifeboats, as the wave it causes would tear everything that floats in the water with it, and the lifeboats are thus death traps. This is confirmed later. James recommends that they go to the dive center . Once there, however, the two notice that there is only one wetsuit left . Walsh leaves the suit to Amy Maine and drowns as the water rises and the two are locked in the diving gear closet . Amy's father eventually arrives in a helicopter to rescue Amy. While the helicopter also crashes, daughter and father manage to reach a previously dropped lifeboat. The daughter attempts to resuscitate Hayden Walsh's body, but eventually gives up as the sun rises over the sea.

The film comes from the low-budget film company The Asylum , which makes money with successful films based on titles and pseudo-sequels. Titanic II has been on the Queen Mary for about 500,000 US dollars rotated. In addition to some logic and connection errors, the film's bad special effects stand out, and the story also has some weaknesses. Reviews
The film received very negative reviews. CINEMA described the film as a "disaster in the dark - or in front of a photo wallpaper". Also Screenrush described the film as "trash of the worst kind" who had in common with the original merely still the iceberg. Van Dyke never succeeds in creating tension or even credibility. Only the special effects, which cannot even compete with the TV weather forecast, would make you smile at first.
