Tito Vespasiano Strozzi
Tito Vespasiano Strozzi (* 1425 in Ferrara ; † August 30, 1505 in Raccano , today part of Polesella in the province of Rovigo ) was an Italian humanist .
Life
Strozzi was closely related to the Estonians in Ferrara, which is evident from the dedication or the content of his numerous poetic works. The nickname Vespasiano was given to him in memory of the Roman emperors Vespasian and Titus , both of whom were called Titus Flavius Vespasianus .
He wrote:
- three collections of love elegies , which he, in the tradition of Roman literature held
- Epyllia
- a collection of Virgil- style eclogues that became the model for a number of imitators
- the verse epic Borsias on the Este in general and Borso d'Este in particular
- a translation of Petrarch's De vita solitaria into Italian.
His son Ercole Strozzi (1473-1508) was also known as a poet.
