Tobias Ihle

Tobias Ihle (born September 17, 1924 in Worms ; † May 15, 2008 ibid) was a German organist and music teacher .

Life

Ihle studied Protestant theology , German literature and school music in Mainz and Heidelberg . From 1952 he worked as a teacher before moving to the Worms department of the Rhineland-Palatinate University of Education in 1963 . There he was appointed professor in 1972. In 1978 Ihle was appointed to the Mainz University of Music at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz , where he taught musicology and music didactics until 1994 .

From 1946 Ihle was organist in the Worms Magnus congregation , whose choir he also directed. In 1955 he founded the Worms Kantorei , which he managed until 2000. He conducted the Worms Chamber Orchestra from 1977 to 1999.

Awards

In 1984 he was honored with the Peter Cornelius plaque . Ihle's voluntary work was honored on August 17, 2001 with the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon. In 2006 he received the Martin Niemöller Medal of the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau for his church music activities .
