Tobias PM Schneid

Tobias Peter Maria Schneid (born July 2, 1963 in Rehau ) is a German composer . His work ranges from contemporary European music to jazz and rock . In addition to traditional, he also uses serial, electronic and free tonal composition techniques. Schneid often bases his works on non-musical concepts.

Life

Schneid studied composition from 1985 to 1992 with Bertold Hummel and Heinz Winbeck at the University of Music in Würzburg ; In 1994 he completed his studies there with a master class diploma. Today, Schneid lives with his family in Neuburg an der Donau and mainly devotes himself to composing.

In 1996 he was Composer in Residence at the University of Manchester , where he met with great interest with the performance of various of his own works. Since 1997 he has been a lecturer for composition at the University of Music in Würzburg , and also a freelance composer.

Tobias PM Schneid has received several awards for his musical work. At the 1st Vienna Composition Competition initiated by Claudio Abbado in 1990 he was awarded 1st prize. In 1996 he was composer in residence at the University of Manchester. His works, attempt over the past , unison op. 1 and the ensemble pieces Prelude I: Harmonic Encounters and Weird Scenes Inside the Mirror Cages were selected by the national jury as German contributions to the World Music Days in 1989, 1991 and 2006. In 2009 the chamber music CD Sacred Landscapes was released on the Coviello Classics label. In spring 2010, Schneid completed his 2nd symphony Time Lapse on Slow Motion Grounds , which was premiered on May 18, 2010 by the Young Euro Classics Festival Orchestra at the Expo in Shanghai under the direction of Gerd Albrecht .
