Heinz Winbeck
Heinz Winbeck (born February 11, 1946 in Piflas ; † March 26, 2019 in Regensburg ) was a German composer .
Life
Winbeck began his training in 1964 at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich . His teachers there included Magda Rusy (piano) and Fritz Rieger (conducting). From 1967 he studied at the Munich Music Academy with Jan Koetsier (conducting), Harald Genzmer and Günter Bialas (composition). 1974-78 he worked as a drama composer and conductor at the Stadttheater Ingolstadt and at the Luisenburg Festival . In 1980 he took on a teaching position at the Munich Music Academy; In 1988 he was appointed professor of composition at the University of Music in Würzburg . In the same year he became “composer in residence” at the Cabrillo Festival in California.
Heinz Winbeck lived in Schambach near Riedenburg in a parsonage that he and his wife Gerhilde restored, for which he received a recognition award from the Hypo Foundation. He is the creator of u. a. five large-scale symphonies. His 5th symphony "Now and in the hour of death" reflects sketches for Anton Bruckner's 9th symphony and was premiered by the Bruckner Orchestra Linz under the direction of Dennis Russell Davies on March 1, 2010 in St. Florian Monastery. Since then Winbeck has had a close collaboration with the Landestheater Linz , which culminated in the ballet “Lebensstürme”. Winbeck's works are published by Bärenreiter-Verlag .
