The Tobysh ( Russian То́быш ) is a left tributary of the Zilma in the Komi Republic in northwestern Russia .
The Tobysch rises east of the Timan ridge and west of the lower reaches of the Pechora . It first flows in a south-westerly direction before turning south. It has many meanders . After 393 km it joins the Zilma flowing eastwards. The Tobysch drains an area of 6610 km². The river is ice-covered between late October / early November and May. The Tobysch floods during the snowmelt in May and June .
