Tom Caluwé (born April 11, 1978 in Rumst ) is a former Belgian football player .
Career
society
Caluwé played in the youth teams of SK Londerzeel and KRC Mechelen before moving to KV Mechelen . There he had been part of the club's professional squad since the 1996/97 season and made his debut in the Jupiler League . Already in his first year as a professional, Caluwé came to regular appearances and scored his first league goal. During the winter break of 1999/00, the Dutch club Willem II Tilburg lured him to the Eredivisie . There the midfielder asserted himself and with ten goals in the 2003/04 season achieved his previous personal scoring within a year. In the same year the team reached seventh place, the best position in the Eredivisie since the turn of the millennium. In the winter break of 2005/06, after five years, Caluwé moved to league rivals FC Utrecht . At the financially troubled club, however, the great successes failed to materialize. From July 2009 to June 2010 Caluwé played for Al-Wakrah SC. He then moved to the Belgian club VV St. Truiden . At the beginning of 2011 he moved to the Cypriot club AEK Larnaka , where he was released at the end of the season and was hired by the provincial club SK Londerzeel in his Belgian homeland, where he played until his end of career in 2014.
National team
On May 11, 2006 Caluwé made his debut in the dress of the Belgian national team . In the game against Saudi Arabia, he was able to score his first goal for the Red Devils in a 2-1 victory . It was the only use of the midfielder so far. Before that, he was a national player for the U-20s in his country and took part in the 1997 World Youth Championship with them. Overall, Tom Caluwé was active from 1995 to 2006 as a player in the U-18, U-19, U-20, U-21 and senior national teams of Belgium.
Trainer
He has been co-trainer at KV Mechelen since 2014 and during this time he looked after the club in three championship games as an interim trainer.
