Career

At the age of 15, Tom De Mul moved from Germinal Beerschot Antwerp to the youth team at Ajax Amsterdam. There he made the leap into the professional squad two years later in the 2003/04 season. De Mul made his Ajax debut on January 25, 2004 in Ajax's 1-0 home win against NEC Nijmegen . He scored his first goal for Ajax on August 15, 2004 in a guest appearance at Twente Enschede . During this time he made 6 appearances and 1 goal.

In the 2005/06 season De Mul moved on loan to Vitesse Arnhem , where he scored 2 goals in 27 games. During his time at Vitesse he wore the number 6 on his back.

2006/07 De Mul played again at Ajax and came to 28 missions, 4 goals and 8 assists. He has also made 7 appearances in the UEFA Cup so far. This season he was promoted to the Belgian national team and played 2 games in qualifying for the 2008 European Championship .

For the 2007/08 season De Mul moved for 4 million euros to the Spanish first division club Sevilla FC ; he signed a 5-year contract there. For the 2008/09 season he was loaned from Sevilla FC to the Belgian club KRC Genk , with whom he won the Belgian Cup . The following season he returned to Seville, but was only used once in the Spanish Cup. Another change on loan to his home country, this time to Standard Liège , in the 2010/11 season brought no further appearances. After his contract in Seville expired at the end of the 2011/12 season, he could not find a new club and has been without a club since then. After being considered without a club for two years, he retired entirely from active football in 2014.
