Friedrich Ernst Moritz Saemisch (born December 23, 1869 in Bonn , † October 23, 1945 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German lawyer, administrative officer and politician in the Weimar Republic and during the Nazi era .

Life

origin

His father was Theodor Saemisch (1833–1909) doctor of medicine and professor of ophthalmology in Berlin. His mother was Sieglinde (Linda) Ranke (1848-1891), the daughter of the professor of theology (Protestant) in Marburg Ernst Ranke and the Theodora (Theoda, Oda) Nasse (1812-1860) from Halle.

Career

After graduating from high school, Saemisch studied law and philosophy in Bonn , Munich , Berlin and Marburg . In 1894 he entered the Prussian judicial service as a court trainee, had been active in the administration since 1897 and moved to the Reich Treasury in 1916 as a civil servant . In 1918 he was promoted to the secret government council and lecturing council.

In 1919, Saemisch was appointed President of the State Tax Office of the Province of Hessen-Nassau . From April 21, 1921 to November 7, 1921, Saemisch served as Prussian finance minister in the state government led by Prime Minister Adam Stegerwald . From 1922 to 1938 Saemisch was President of the German Reich's Court of Audit and Chief President of the Prussian Chamber of Accounts. At the same time, he acted as Reichsparkommissar and in 1930 was appointed note commissioner at the Reichsbank .

family

He was married twice. His first wife was Linda Nasse (1868-1917). She was the daughter of Berthold von Nasse (1831–1906), the upper president of the Rhine provinces and honorary citizen of Wetzlar and Henriette Weber (1842–1877). The son comes from the marriage:

His second wife was Alexandra von Ranke (1891–1976) from Görlitz in 1924 . She was the daughter of the Prussian Major General Friedhelm von Ranke (1847-1917), and Selma (Lily) von Ranke (1859-1946). The son comes from the marriage:
