Tom Garrick

Thomas Shannon Garrick (born July 7, 1966 in West Warwick ) is a retired American basketball player .

career

Garrick played basketball and American football at West Warwick High School, Rhode Island . From 1984 to 1988 he was a member of the University of Rhode Island's college basketball team . In the 1986/87 season, the statistical values ​​of the 1.88 meter tall player grew significantly compared to his first two years of play. Garrick scored 17 points per match, in the 1987/88 season increased the value to 20.5 per game, and he then prepared an average of 4.1 basket hits for his teammates per game. Garrick, who studied communication science, switched to professional business, in the NBA draft process in 1988, the Los Angeles Clippers decided in the second selection round in 45th place for the development player.

Garrick played 211 NBA games for Los Angeles from 1988 to 1991 and scored an average of 10.6 points per encounter. In the 1991/92 season he came to a total of 40 NBA appearances for three different teams: San Antonio Spurs , Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks . Garrick was in the 1992/93 season for Rapid City Thrillers in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). From 1993 to 1995 he played at Bayer Leverkusen in the basketball league , won the German championship with the Rhinelanders in both seasons and also the DBB Cup in the 1994/95 season . His coach in Leverkusen was Dirk Bauermann . Garrick played with the team in the European Cup , in this competition he scored an average of 15.2 points in the 1993/94 season and 16.1 points per match in 1994/95.

In the 1995/96 season Garrick was under contract with the Turkish first division club Meysuspor, in 1996/97 he played 34 appearances for Caja San Fernando in the Spanish ACB league and reached 12.9 points per game. The 1997/98 game year was the last of his career as a professional basketball player, Garrick was in the service of Kombassan Konya in the first Turkish league, in 16 games he averaged 15.3 points and gave 3.3 assists, which led directly to basket successes.

He switched to the coaching business and was an assistant coach at the University of Rhode Island from 1998 to 2001. From 2001 to 2004 he was assistant coach for the women at the same university, in 2004 he temporarily stepped in as the head coach's deputy in the absence of the head coach. He was then briefly assistant coach at the University of Virginia , then from August 2004 to 2009 head coach of the women at the University of Rhode Island. In 2009 he moved to Vanderbilt University , became assistant coach of the women, from 2015 to 2018 he held the post of assistant coach of the women of Boston College , in April 2018 he took the post of head coach of the women of the University of Massachusetts Lowell .
