Kjell Tommy Marø (born September 19, 1964 in Qaqortoq ) is a Greenlandic politician ( Siumut ).

Life

Tommy Marø was chairman of the Sorlak Children's and Youth Association from 1994 to 1999 . In 1997 he was first elected to the Qaqortoq Municipality Council. In 1999 he received a place in Inatsisartut , where he stayed until 2002. In 2001 he was elected mayor of Qaqortoq Township.

In the local elections in 2005 he was unable to defend his mayoral seat, which fell to Simon Simonsen . Only a few days later it was announced that Tommy Marø would be appointed Minister for Autonomy, Natural Resources and Justice to replace the resigned Jørgen Wæver Johansen . That same day, however, the cabinet was restructured and Tommy Marø became Minister for Family and Justice instead. The legislative period ended that same year.

In the next parliamentary election, he managed to get into parliament via a replacement seat. In November 2006 he was appointed Minister for Culture, Education, Research and Church in place of Doris Jakobsen . In March 2007, he survived a vote of no confidence that the Democrats had cast after Tommy Marø had let the police drive him home. Because of this and other misconduct, he received the 2008 Uuaq negative award of the year . In November 2008, another vote of no confidence by the Democraatit against him failed.

In 2008 he did not stand in the local elections. In the parliamentary elections in 2009 he could no longer get a seat in parliament. Then he withdrew from politics. In 2014 he failed again in the parliamentary election.
