Tommy Tune

Tommy Tune (born February 28, 1939 in Wichita Falls ) is an American theater actor , dancer , choreographer and theater director .

Life

Tune studied at Lon Morris College , the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Houston in Texas. He made his debut as an actor in Baker Street in 1965. This was followed by A Joyful Noise 1966, How Now, Dow Jones 1967 and Seesaw 1973. He also worked as a theater director and choreographer from the late 1970s, including in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas in 1978, A Day in Hollywood / A Night in the Ukraine 1980, Nine 1982, My One and Only 1983, Stepping Out 1987, Grand Hotel 1989, The Will Rogers Follies 1991, Tommy Tune Tonite! 1992, Bye Bye Birdie 1992, The Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public 1994 and Grease 1994 (Revival). Tune won the Tony Award several times . In 2003 he received the National Medal of Arts . Tune lives in New York City. His first life partner was the American actor David Wolfe , who died in 1994. Then he lived with the American Michel Stuart .
